CLIENT SUCCESS STORY

Ecommerce development from zero: how we stood up The Family Campsite's store and the marketing engine to run it

We built our own brand to prove the work we sell. The Family Campsite runs on a custom Shopify storefront and a full inbound-and-outbound marketing engine, engineered together by one firm.

Day 1

Inbound and Outbound Marketing, Both Live at Launch.

I own The Family Campsite, and my team at S5T built it. That was the point. Before I ask a client to trust us with their store and their marketing, I wanted to run the whole thing end to end on a brand of my own and live with every call we made. The store, the SEO, the ad funnels, the support line: all of it is ours.

Eddie "Hildy" Hildebrandt

Founder of S5T and owner of The Family Campsite

THE SITUATION

The situation the client walked in with.

S5T builds and operates real brands of its own, and The Family Campsite is one of them: a family camping and RV gear store with an American-made streak and the tagline “Where Family Memories Are Made,” started in 2026 in Louisburg, NC. It began at zero. There was no store, no traffic, and no audience to sell to. A real e-commerce business needs two things working at once: a storefront that earns orders, and a marketing engine that brings people to it. Most firms do one or the other. We do both, and each side makes the other better.

KEY OBSTACLES

What made this hard.

  • A brand-new domain has no authority and no traffic, so organic visibility had to be earned from scratch
  • A real catalog of 89 products across 8 collections needs merchandising, information architecture, and conversion design. A template drop-in does not do that work
  • Genuine conversion-rate optimization is an engineering job grounded in behavioral models. Automatic website builders cannot do it
  • Outbound on Meta now runs under its Andromeda update, whose behavior is documented in technical white papers most marketers never read
  • Splitting the work across a separate developer and marketing agency leaves seams where the store and the demand do not line up

OUR APPROACH

How we attacked it.

We pointed our combined engineering and marketing practice at our own brand. The store runs on a custom Shopify theme we built and tuned for speed and conversion. No generic builder template. Our build pipelines write conversion-rate optimization into the design itself, built on established behavioral models, the kind of work automatic site builders cannot reproduce. As we built, we ran the work through our own internal knowledge systems, so every lesson compounded back into the theme and the process. On the marketing side, we stood up inbound and outbound together: SEO and a content schedule to earn organic visibility, plus Meta funnels built for the platform as it actually works today. We read Andromeda’s technical white papers the way our engineers read any spec, then designed those funnels around how the ad AI places inventory. That is an edge most marketing firms do not have.

WHAT WE DELIVERED

The work, broken down by discipline.

🛒

A custom Shopify storefront

We built a custom Shopify theme from scratch and merchandised 89 products into 8 shoppable collections, with the information architecture, policies, and US-based support a working store needs. American-made gear is curated and labeled so shoppers can find it.

🎯

Inbound marketing, live

SEO is active and a content schedule is running, so the store earns organic visibility over time. This is where custom ecommerce development meets organic digital marketing to naturally funnel users towards the store front.
📣

Outbound funnels built for Modern AI-Drive Ads Platforms

We used our prowess in engineering to study the latest white papers on the AI-driven ad systems of tomorrow—like Meta's "Andromeda" and Google Ads' "AI Max"—so that we could build outbound marketing funnels that are targeted towards those systems today.

THE IMPACT

What the client walked out with.

If we had to sum up The Family Campsite in one word, it would be proof. We set out to build a real ecommerce business on a brand we own, the store and the marketing engine together, end to end, so that when we tell a client we can do this for them, we have already done it for ourselves. That is what we walked away with: a working store, a live marketing engine, and the proof behind the pitch.
🛒

A store that fits the brand and sells

The Family Campsite runs on a custom storefront that reflects the brand and is engineered to convert using modern peer-reviewed behavioral models deeply integrated into our development pipelines.
⚙️

A marketing engine running from day one

Inbound and outbound went live together. Organic visibility compounds over time while the outbound ads channels on Google and Meta drive demand now.
📈

Outbound that fits the platform as it is today

Our outbound ads campaigns are built for next generation ad platforms like Andromeda and AI Max in a way that no other agency can match because our engineering prowess allows us to more deeply understand how these next-generation ad platforms work on a technical level.

Proof on our own brand

We delivered the exact capability we offer clients, ecommerce development and digital marketing, on a business we own and run. We had to live with every decision we made.
